Case study
BetaVoices: independent news in three languages, run by a tiny team
BetaVoices publishes news, events and public figure profiles in English, French and Persian. It was the first newsroom on LedeRoom and still gets every new version first.
BetaVoices is our own newsroom: the team behind LedeRoom runs it. Every number on this page was read from the live site on 26 October 2026.

How BetaVoices works on LedeRoom
-
One desk from lead to story
Tips and assignments land in the Assignment Desk. AI drafts from the sources, and an editor approves every story before it goes out.
-
Three languages without translators
Stories are written in English and translated by AI into French and Persian. Readers see an “AI translated” label, and editors can fix any translation.
-
Trust readers can check
Sources and claim checks sit on the story. A public standards page and a corrections log say how the newsroom works and what it fixed.
-
Reader money built in
Monthly, yearly and one-time supporter payments run through Stripe, with a newsletter and ad spaces on the same site.
-
Its own server
BetaVoices runs on a server of its own in Germany, with its own database, storage, email sender and keys.
-
No IT staff
Updates, backups and health checks are automatic. A new version reaches the site within minutes of being approved.
How the site is looked after
The same care goes into every LedeRoom newsroom. Security and status
- health check from three places in Europe
- Every 5 minutes
- full database backup, with a copy kept off the server
- Every night
- pages checked in all three languages with nothing broken
- 377
- moved from shared hosting to its own server
- 22 Oct 2026
