Plan terms

Languages, AI translation and the AI allowance

These terms are part of every LedeRoom plan and its agreement.

Translations are made by AI

Stories in a site's extra languages are translated by AI (a large language model), not by a human translator. AI translations can contain mistakes. The newsroom stays responsible for what it publishes and can edit or correct any translation before or after it goes out.

Readers see an “AI translated” label on every translated story.

Languages

Every plan includes the site's main language. Each extra language that stories are translated into is $49 a month.

Each extra language includes up to $15 of translation each month, which is enough for hundreds of stories. Translation beyond that is billed at cost plus 20%. Translation is never paused for running over.

Translation does not use the plan's AI allowance, and a site's AI budget never stops it.

The AI allowance

Each plan includes an AI allowance every month for drafts, draft checks, story review, research notes and social posts. AI use beyond the allowance is billed at cost plus 20%.

A site admin can set a monthly AI budget that pauses these AI tools when it is used up. Manual editing, publishing and translation keep working.

AI assists, editors decide

AI drafts, checks and translations are help for the newsroom, not finished journalism. An editor approves every story before it is published.
