Winnipeg has launched an online map that shows snow-clearing progress on every street, updated every 15 minutes from GPS units on city plows.
Streets turn green when they have been cleared and orange when they are next. The map also shows when a parking ban begins on each block, a frequent cause of tickets and tows last winter.
The city says the map cost about $90,000 to build. The data is also published as an open data feed, so newsrooms and app makers can use it.
